Ninjas in Pyjamas Disband their Dota 2 Roster and Close the Division
The Swedish organization Ninjas in Pyjamas has announced that their Dota 2 roster is now disbanded. Besides that, the organization decided to temporarily close their Dota 2 division.
NiP’s COO Jonas Gundersen explained the decision as follows:
- With the indefinite postponement of the DPC and The International, we find ourselves on an increasingly unclear path to financial stability within the game. We’re seeing a high concentration of talent in the EU region, meaning that the cost of keeping up is markedly higher while revenues are dwindling.
This is the second time this year when Ninjas in Pyjamas release their Dota 2 roster. This April the organization disbanded the roster led by Peter "ppd" Dager and signed players from Chicken Fighters, a mix led by a Russian captain Akbar "SoNNeikO" Butaev. A few months later, the team’s management decided to exclude SoNNeikO from the roster. The team’s biggest accomplishments were the third places at OGA Dota PIT 3, BTS Pro Series 3 and DOTA Summit 13.
Currently the team participates in the second division of EPIC League – they are now placed 5th in the group stage with the 5-4 score. Adrian "Era" Kryeziu on his Twitter page revealed that the team will finish the event with the current roster and decide on its future after the tournament’s conclusion.
